Save Our Support - LSAs to be casualised at South Kent College?

Yesterday I wrote to South Kent College Governor and District & Town Councillor George Bunting calling on him to intercede with the College's management to prevent the casualisation of its highly dedicated LSA workforce.

I was totally shocked to receive news from two trusted sources that the College is consulting on plans to put LSAs onto new contracts which, it appears, would hold no guarantees as to when they would be working and for how long, similar to sessional contracts used for emerg… Continue

Surviving the recession

There is so much useful information out there for us, advice and tips, guidance etc., This wasn't available in the last recesson for those of you who remember it!

We didn't have today's technolgy, we didn't have today's networking environment, we relied more heavily on the media content, instead of other's personal experiences, and advice.

E-mail Sent To Cllr Bliss 10-04-09 10:10am

Dear Cllr Bliss.

I would be really grateful if you would put some serious consideration into continuing operation of the Leas Lift while negotiating with the Radnor Estate to establish a new leaseholder, which will hopefully be Shepway District Council.

I'm aware that the lift has been running at a loss for a considerable length of time, but what really matters is that it is kept running for the people of Folkestone and Shepway as a whole, including my family, especially my little ones. This a… Continue

Pristine Properties, Shame About the Potholes!

During a recent walk through streets in the West End of Folkestone between the Town Centre and Sandgate, I was saddened to discover that an area filled with some of the most beautifully pristine properties in the town is blighted by the failure of Kent Highways to act on Potholes.

I followed a route which took in, among other streets, Welson Road, Turketel Road, Bouverie Road West, Godwyn Road, Grimston Avenue and Trinity Crescent, and found around 100 potholes of various sizes and depths and a… Continue
